Watch for refreshed Community Provider Resource Centre

AHS’s Primary Health Care team are putting the finishing touches on their refreshed web presence. The Community Provider Resource Centre will be a consolidation of two existing pages, which will both be retired once the refreshed site goes live.

The refreshed site will include all the information from the existing two sites and more – making it easier for busy primary care professionals to find the latest on public health, pathways, chronic disease management and more.

Updates to the Adult Orthopedic & Spine Referral Pathway

The Provincial Adult Orthopedic & Spine Referral Pathway has been recently updated to include Dupuytren’s Contracture and Trigger Finger as reasons for referral.

The most updated version of the pathway can be found on Alberta’s Pathway Hub here and the pathway update notes that capture the recent changes and additions can be found here.

Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre

The new Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre (Arthur Child) is set to open its doors to patients at the end of October. Staff have been working diligently to prepare patient spaces, learn new workflows and technology and orient themselves with the building.

Patients who do have appointments after October 25, will see a location change in their MYAHS Connect app, to the Arthur Child.

APL survey deadline extension

As physicians who use the APL Lab request services, your feedback is crucial in helping understand how APL is doing, what is working, and what can be improved. Providing your input has been made easy through a short online survey that can be accessed here.  The survey will now remain open until October 31, so please take a few minutes to share your thoughts.

APL would like to thank you in advance for participating in this questionnaire. As physicians who use their services for your patients, your involvement in providing your thoughts will help shape lab services.

AHS Chronic Pain Workshops

Part 1- Introduction to Pain Assessment (and Management) in Primary Health Care

Participants will be able to describe key features of chronic pain and identify strategies to prevent functional decline in patients with pain, practice application of pain assessment tools in the creation of a client-centered plan and identify practical mind-body strategies to incorporate in treatment sessions.

Chronic Pain Part 2 – Medication Management Overview for Primary Health Care

Participants review general principles for medication management of chronic pain, build awareness and understanding of integration of medication and non-medication options to support persons living with chronic pain, and apply tools and resources for chronic pain management.

Long COVID focus group

Canadian guidelines for post COVID-19 condition (also known as long COVID) are currently being developed by Cochrane Canada and the McMaster Grade Centre. The ARCHE and ECHO research teams at the University of Alberta, in partnership with McMaster University, invite members of the public over 18 years old (with or without long COVID) to participate in a focus group and share their feedback on how best to communicate these guidelines to the general public. 

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy Webinars

Urinary Incontinence (male anatomy) has been added to the Alberta Health Services Pelvic Health Physiotherapy webinars.

This brings us up to 4 unique webinars related to pelvic health that are available for all Albertans at no cost.  Self-registration for the webinars is available through MyHealth Alberta.  Topics include:
