The Nurse Practitioner Association of Alberta respectfully acknowledges that our members live and work in the traditional territories of Indigenous people who have inhabited this land for over 500 generations. We respect and honour the treaties of Alberta including treaties 4, 6, 7, 8, and 10 that encompass the travelling routes, gathering places and meeting grounds for Indigenous peoples from over 45 First Nations communities and 8 Metis settlements.
As health care professionals, we look to the teachings of the medicine wheel that show us how the land provides all the requirements for mental, physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. We acknowledge the land that provides for us, and we recognise, honour, and give thanks to the stewards of the land who continue to teach us how to care for each other, ourselves, and this beautiful land that we share and call home.
