CASE – Control Asthma Symptoms Exacerbations

Program Overview
The CASE program follows Daniel’s journey living with Asthma and the decisions made by healthcare providers over the years. This interactive program challenges clinicians to consider their own approaches to Asthma Management and the importance of patient education in preventing exacerbations. Facilitated by a specialist, CASE evaluates real-life scenarios that Nurse Practitioners face and highlights opportunities for collaborative patient care.
Learning Objectives
After participating in this program, Nurse Practitioners will be better able to:
- Implement best practices for routine assessment of asthma control and identify treatment goals;
- Identify red flags for non-adherence and implement adherence strategies;
- Consider an individualized asthma action plan to optimize outcomes and prevent exacerbations.
Speaker
Kenneth Chapman, MD, MSc, FRCPC, FACP, FCCP, FERS
Dr. Chapman is Director of the Asthma and Airway Centre of the University Health Network, President of the Canadian Network for Respiratory Care and Director of the Canadian Registry for Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.
A Professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto, Dr. Chapman is an internationally respected researcher and lecturer in the fields of asthma and COPD. With more than 16,000 citations to his published work, he is in the top 1% of cited medical researchers.
