Ovarian Cancer Update
June 16 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm UTC-7
June 16th 12-1pm
Join NPAA and Ovarian Cancer Canada for an update on ovarian cancer.
Ovarian cancer is the most fatal women’s cancer. One in two women diagnosed do not live to see another five years. There is no screening or diagnostic test, there is no vaccine, and the pap test does not screen for ovarian cancer. Symptoms are vague, common and non-specific and it is diagnosed in advanced stages. Prevention provides the best chance of saving lives from ovarian cancer. That is why the Ovarian Cancer Prevention Taskforce (OCPTF), a multidisciplinary team of leading experts, including gynecological oncologists, genetic counsellors, menopause specialists, family doctors, researchers, clinicians, patients and previvors are working to engage primary care providers across Canada to ensure that they are aware of their important role in ovarian cancer prevention. Effective knowledge mobilization activities are needed to ensure that key audiences are aware of the prevention pathway, including nurse practitioners and patients. To educate key audiences, the OCPTF has designed knowledge mobilization products. In this session, Ovarian Cancer Canada will provide an overview of the disease, prevention, and the free knowledge mobilization resources that the OCPTF have developed (handout and waiting room poster) to support primary care practitioners.
Recorded webinar will also be available afterwards.
