Invitation to participate in research study assessing the type of guidance and guidelines healthcare providers offer pregnant people during wildfires in Canada

Study Details
We are recruiting healthcare providers for a 30-minute survey. This survey is part of a master’s thesis research study assessing the type of guidance and guidelines healthcare providers offer pregnant people during wildfires in Canada. The ethical aspects of this project have been reviewed and approved by the uOttawa REB (file # H-02-25-11204).

The primary goal is to document healthcare professionals’ perspectives on perinatal-wildfire health knowledge and experiences and to assess their ability to provide guidance related to wildfire-related perinatal health risks during consultations with perinatal patients.

This study seeks to recruit healthcare providers who meet the following inclusion criteria:
Are you 18 years and older?
Do or did you work in perinatal health in Canada?

If you are interested in participating, please follow this link to complete an online survey about promotion strategies for perinatal wildfire exposure: https://www.surveymonkey.ca/r/C5CR8SC

Why participate?
To encourage participation in this study, the findings—specifically the guidance and recommendations shared by healthcare providers in the survey—will be made available to all participants through the PEHE (Perinatal Environmental Health Education) website. Given the current absence of specific Canadian guidelines addressing the health risks of wildfire exposure for pregnant individuals, we believe that sharing insights into the quality and variety of advice currently being offered can serve as a valuable resource. This initiative not only supports knowledge exchange among professionals but also contributes to improving perinatal care in the context of a growing environmental threat.
